Ethan Shaotran is an American software engineer, currently serving in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Shaotran is a resident of Palo Alto, California. He attended the Research Science Institute at MIT in 2019.[3] He graduated from Gunn High School in 2020 and is a senior at Harvard University.[4][5][6]
Career
[edit]Shaotran is among a group of 19- to 24-year-olds appointed to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).[1] According to Wired, Shaotran currently has an active General Services Administration (GSA) email and A-suite level clearance, giving him clearance to GSA facilities and IT services.[1]
Shaotran was also identified as a runner-up at a hackathon held by xAI, Elon Musk’s AI company, and received a $100,000 grant from OpenAI to develop an AI scheduling assistant.[7]
Shaotran is part of a six-member team of young engineers working under Musk at DOGE, alongside Akash Bobba (21), Luke Farritor (23), Gautier Cole Killian (24), Gavin Kliger (25), and Edward Coristine (19), the youngest member of the team.[8]
