John Cooney (boxer)

John Henry Cooney (2 April 1996 – February 2025), known professionally as the Kid, was an Irish boxer.[1]

Early life and career

Cooney was born in Ealing, London to Irish parents.[2] During his career, he had 12 professional fights.[3]

Death

On 1 February 2025, during a fight against Nathan Howells at Ulster Hall in Belfast, Cooney suffered brain damage and was hospitalized.[4] His death at the age of 28 was reported on 8 February.[5][6][7]
