10x10 is a 2018 psychological thriller film directed by Suzi Ewing. The film stars Luke Evans and Kelly Reilly.[2][3][4] It was written and produced by Noel Clarke, through his production company Unstoppable Entertainment.

Plot

[edit]

The film begins with Lewis (Luke Evans), a seemingly mild-mannered man who kidnaps Cathy (Kelly Reilly), a woman with a hidden past, and imprisons her in a small, windowless 10x10 room. Cathy initially does not understand why she has been taken, but soon realizes that Lewis is harboring a personal obsession with her. He insists she must confess to something in her past, but the nature of his demand remains unclear.

As Cathy struggles to come to terms with her captivity, she begins to discover more about Lewis’s traumatic past, including the loss of a loved one that might explain his motivations. Meanwhile, Cathy also reveals bits of her own dark history, and it becomes evident that there is a deeper connection between her past and Lewis's actions.

The film unfolds in the confined space of the room, where Cathy uses her resourcefulness to survive and attempt to manipulate Lewis into revealing more. Over time, the power dynamic between the two shifts as Cathy grows more adept at understanding her captor’s vulnerabilities. She works to turn the tables, subtly manipulating the situation to her advantage.

The tension escalates as Cathy eventually confesses a part of her past, revealing that she is connected to Lewis’s trauma in an unexpected way. This revelation drives a shift in their relationship, and Cathy begins to outsmart her captor. Lewis, now visibly unstable, loses control as the emotional stakes rise.

The final confrontation occurs as Cathy, realizing that she has the upper hand, fights back. The room that was once a trap becomes the stage for their psychological and physical battle. The truth about Cathy’s involvement in the traumatic events of Lewis’s past is revealed in a shocking twist. The film culminates in a dramatic showdown, leaving both characters' fates uncertain and challenging the viewer’s perceptions of morality, justice, and revenge.

In the ambiguous ending, Cathy takes control of her destiny, leaving the final resolution open to interpretation.
